Authorities in Vietnam’s Dak Lak province have approved a 452 MW floating solar project on the Ea Sup Thuong reservoir, with an estimated investment of $355 million. The facility is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028.
The Provincial People’s Committee granted approval through Decision No. 3526/QĐ-UBND, issued on October 31. The project will cover about 527 hectares, including 524 hectares of reservoir surface.
Planned infrastructure includes a floating 35 kV electrical collection network and a 35/220 kV substation with two 250 MVA transformers. A 6 km double-circuit 220 kV line will connect the plant to the Krong Buk substation, which will receive two additional 220 kV connection bays. The project will also include a battery energy storage system, but its capacity has not been disclosed.
The developers will fund 20% of the investment with equity and seek other sources for the remaining 80%. The consortium consists of IPC Engineering and Construction, Tay Nguyen Infrastructure Construction and Development, SD Vietnam Construction Investment, and Ea Sup Investment, according to Tuoi Tre News.
