Poland’s Energy Regulatory Office (URE) has published the schedule for its 2026 renewable energy auctions, allocating approximately PLN 24.9 billion ($6.34 billion) to procure more than 76 TWh of renewable electricity. Auctions for solar PV and onshore wind projects will be held on November 9–10, with separate categories for installations up to 1 MW and those larger than 1 MW.
Only new installations can take part, and bids will be assessed solely on price. Developers must obtain an auction admission certificate through the Online Auction Platform (IPA) before submitting bids.
Solar has accounted for most successful projects in recent auction rounds, while onshore wind participation has been limited. In 2025, the regulator awarded about 1.67 GW of solar capacity and 82.7 MW of wind capacity. Solar projects made up 178 of the 181 winning bids, with prices ranging from PLN 216.90/MWh to PLN 374.77/MWh across the two capacity categories.
The pattern was similar in 2024, when solar won 198 of 200 bids. The remaining two went to wind projects with a combined capacity of 90.8 MW. Auction participation has remained relatively subdued as developers increasingly consider corporate power purchase agreements and merchant electricity sales as alternatives to government-backed support.
The auctions are part of Poland’s 2022–2027 renewable energy support framework, which initially set targets of approximately 9 GW of new solar capacity and 3 GW of onshore wind. Poland added 3.6 GW of solar in 2025, bringing cumulative capacity to 24.8 GW, according to data collected by Agencja Rynku Energii for the Ministry of Energy. A separate estimate from transmission system operator Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne put total solar capacity at 25.5 GW at the end of the year.
