Slovenian state-owned energy company Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE) has opened a tender for a 1.38 MW solar power plant paired with a 1.25 MW/5 MWh battery energy storage system. The project is planned for the Kamnolom Zagorje site, a closed municipal waste landfill in the municipality of Zagorje ob Savi, in central Slovenia.
The selected contractor will handle the hybrid plant’s design, supply, assembly, testing and connection. The project is part of HSE’s broader effort to develop renewable energy on brownfield sites in the Zasavje region.
HSE secured a building permit for the project in late September and said that some of the funding would come from the EU’s Just Transition Fund. The company also plans measures to improve stormwater drainage and limit water seepage into the landfill. Construction is planned for 2027.
Prospective bidders can submit questions until November 10. Applications must be submitted electronically by November 19.
