Greenvolt Next has entered into an agreement with Carrefour Property to finance, build, and operate solar carport installations at 120 Carrefour stores located across France. This initiative follows a national tender launched by the retailer's property division specifically for the development, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of solar canopies within its French real estate portfolio.

The project is set to deliver approximately 25 MW of installed capacity, comprising around 45,000 solar panels. Each installation will be customized to meet the specific technical and operational needs of individual stores, taking into account factors such as parking layouts, underground utilities, customer traffic patterns, business continuity requirements, grid connections, and local regulations.

According to the agreement, the estimated annual energy generation is expected to cover a significant portion of the electricity consumption for the participating stores. Carrefour aims to leverage this renewable energy source to reduce its exposure to energy price volatility while simultaneously lowering the carbon footprint of its real estate assets.

Greenvolt Next, the distributed energy subsidiary of the Portuguese renewable energy contractor Greenvolt, will provide an end-to-end service covering all phases from financing and engineering to development, construction, operation, and maintenance. The company currently operates in 12 European markets and reports a portfolio featuring more than 3,500 projects, with over 405 MW installed and more than 1 GW of contracted capacity.
